VIG Re is expanding its Natural Catastrophe capabilities and is seeking a motivated Catastrophe Modeller to strengthen the underwriting process with high‑quality analytics, insights and model driven decision support. In this role, you will directly support underwriting decisions across multiple international markets, work with modern modelling tools, and contribute to the development of our in‑house analytical capabilities.
Catastrophe Modeller
- Run Natural Catastrophe (NatCat) modelling analyses for submissions and renewal portfolios, producing high‑quality pricing exhibits
- Perform exposure data quality checks: geocoding, Open Exposure Data (OED) mapping, peril/region validation, data cleansing and gap‑filling to ensure robust model input
- Support Underwriters by preparing deal‑level pricing materials, technical results, scenario tests and clear summaries of key modelling assumptions
- Contribute to regular portfolio analytics by producing accumulation views, zonal aggregates, peril-region dashboards, concentration indicators and clash/correlation analyses
- Maintain and enhance modelling templates, documentation, parameter libraries and audit trails to ensure transparency and consistency
- Provide rapid event‑response support by running quick‑turn scenarios and preparing concise updates for senior stakeholders
- Assist in model validation, vendor model reviews, and parameter calibration in collaboration with Senior Modellers
- Collaborate with IT/Data teams to automate workflows, improve modelling efficiency and support the development of modern data pipelines
What we expect
- 3-6 years of experience in catastrophe modelling, exposure management, or NatCat analytics within an insurer, reinsurer, modelling firm or broker
- Practical experience with Risk Management Solutions (RMS) models and/or other major vendor models across multiple territories
- Good understanding of reinsurance treaty structures and the fundamentals of technical pricing
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation and model input preparation
- High attention to detail, excellent data discipline, and ability to deliver accurate results under time pressure
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style; comfortable partnering with Underwriters and technical specialists
- University degree in mathematics, statistics, geoscience, engineering, or another quantitative discipline
- Fluency in English; any additional language is an advantage
