We are looking for an experienced (Senior) Treaty Underwriter to join our team in Munich or Prague, focusing on VIG Group clients in Austria and Germany.
This role offers a unique opportunity to actively develop and grow our business within the Group, by combining deep client understanding with strong underwriting expertise. You will play a key role in identifying needs, shaping solutions, and further strengthening our partnerships with VIG Group companies.
What you can expect
Drive business development within the Group
- Actively develop and expand reinsurance business with VIG Group clients in Austria and Germany
- Identify business opportunities, anticipate client needs, and translate them into tailored reinsurance solutions
- Contribute to the sustainable growth and profitability of the portfolio
Client engagement & solution orientation
- Serve as a key contact for VIG Group companies, building strong and trusted relationships
- Develop a deep understanding of client strategies, risk profiles, and challenges
- Proactively originate and structure solutions that create value for both clients and VIG Re
Underwriting responsibility
- Underwrite and manage proportional and non-proportional treaty business within your authority
- Conduct risk assessment, pricing, negotiation, and binding of reinsurance business
- Monitor portfolio exposures and support risk accumulation control across lines of business
Collaboration & contribution
- Work closely with internal functions (pricing, risk, claims) to ensure high-quality underwriting decisions
- Contribute to business planning and the continuous development of underwriting approaches
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and locations
What we expect
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in reinsurance underwriting
- Experience in working with complex client structures or Group environments is an advantage
- Casualty background is a plus
Technical & commercial skills
- Strong understanding of proportional and non-proportional treaty reinsurance
- Solid analytical capabilities combined with commercial mindset and solution orientation
- Confident use of underwriting tools and systems

- Proven ability to understand client needs and translate them into actionable solutions
- Strong relationship management skills with a proactive and opportunity-driven approach
- Ability to further develop business in an existing client environment
