We are seeking an experienced Senior Casualty Facultative Underwriter to join our international team in Prague, Munich, or Paris. In this senior, client-facing role, you will collaborate closely with experienced facultative underwriting colleagues across these key locations, contributing to a strong and unified platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to play an active role in shaping and strengthening VIG Re’s facultative presence across Europe and beyond, while contributing to the growth of a high-performing and internationally recognized underwriting portfolio.
What You Can Expect
- Impact: Assume strong ownership in building and developing a profitable non-life facultative Casualty portfolio for VIG Re across our core markets in Central, Eastern, and Western Europe. Drive sustainable growth through disciplined underwriting, systematic business development and strategic portfolio development.
- Client Focus: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and partners, representing VIG Re across your designated markets. Demonstrate a strong understanding of client needs and evolving market dynamics, delivering tailored solutions while proactively managing relationships in a fast-changing environment.
- Responsibility: Lead the analysis, evaluation, negotiation, and binding of profitable facultative reinsurance business. Actively manage portfolio exposures across multiple lines of business, including General Liability, Product Liability, Professional Indemnity, and other classes, within diverse international regulatory environments.
- Involvement: Collaborate closely with colleagues and contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen cooperation across VIG Re. Translate ideas into actionable outcomes and play an active role in shaping business plans to expand our international market footprint.
What We Expect

- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strategic relationships with clients and brokers, effectively representing VIG Re across your allocated markets and at industry conferences and events
- Technical Expertise: Evaluate proportional and non-proportional facultative reinsurance opportunities in full compliance with VIG Re’s risk appetite and underwriting governance, supported by excellent analytical and negotiating skills
- Market & Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrate broad market experience across international markets and jurisdictions, with a strong understanding of international Casualty markets and regulatory environments
- Commercial & Business Development Mindset: Proven track record in profitable underwriting, portfolio management, and systematic business development, combined with a strong commercial mindset and disciplined risk assessment
- Collaborative Approach: Act as a committed team player who actively engages cross-functional partners in the underwriting process and contributes to knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Educational Background: Hold a university degree, preferably in Law, Business Administration, Economics, or a quantitative discipline.
- Professional Experience: 8+ years of experience in facultative or single-risk Casualty underwriting. Additionally, experience in Marine Underwriting would be considered an advantage.
- Mobility and Communication: Demonstrate willingness to travel as required and possess a strong command of English, both written and spoken.
