We are looking for an experienced Senior Treaty Underwriter for the Italian market to join our team in Prague or Munich. You will be working alongside experienced colleagues in a team that is responsible for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Nordics. - Client focus: You are the main counterpart for our clients and partners and represent VIG Re in your allocated market. You understand client needs, develop solutions, and actively manage client relationships in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Responsibility: A broad spectrum of responsibilities for P&C treaty reinsurance business within your assigned authorities. You have the mandate for the analysis, evaluation, negotiation, and binding of profitable treaty reinsurance business for VIG Re. You manage portfolio exposures for different lines of businesses and support in risk accumulation control.
- Involvement: Be actively involved with colleagues and initiatives, fostering exchange and cooperation throughout VIG Re. Put your ideas into action and shape the business plan to expand our footprint & reach across multiple countries.
What we expect
- Passionate about underwriting: you have a deep understanding and experience in the assessment and management of risks and advanced analytical skills
- Strategic development and management of client and broker relationships, representing VIG Re in your allocated markets and at conferences
- Assessing proportional, non-proportional treaty reinsurance business and complex structures in adherence to VIG Re’s processes and guidelines
- Open minded and proactive to foresee the development of risk, tool and market assessments. Strong in commanding underwriting tools and IT applications
- A team player who proactively integrates other functions in the underwriting process and shares knowledge
- Contributing to ensuring consistent underwriting quality and pricing standards
- A university degree (preferably quantitative studies or economics)
- 10+ years of experience in reinsurance underwriting and a background in the Italian market. A Casualty background is a plus
- Willingness to travel combined with fluent Italian and proficient command of English
