Underwriting Manager

What you can expect

• Impact: Take the chance to create daily impact and to shape the future of VIG Re in Munich. In this leadership role, you have the responsibility and accountability in managing and continuously develop the team and the markets Austria, Switzerland, and the Nordics.
• Client focus: You have a deep understanding for client needs, develop solutions, and shape strategies to sustainably grow VIG Re’s footprint. You are a key counterpart for our clients and partners and represent VIG Re together with the team in the allocated markets.
• Responsibility: A broad spectrum of responsibilities for P&C treaty reinsurance business. You foster the enhancement of Underwriting know-how and ensure effective portfolio management. You promote cross-functional collaboration and are driving future Underwriting topics.
• Involvement: Be actively involved with colleagues and initiatives, fostering exchange and cooperation throughout VIG Re. Put your ideas into action and shape the business plan to expand our footprint & reach across multiple countries.
   

Our expectations

• Passionate about leading teams: Exceptional people management skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing, diverse teams. In this role you will be reporting directly to the Managing Director in Germany and you will be responsible for the non-life business in key markets of VIG Re: Austria, Switzerland & Nordics
• Underwriting and pricing track record: you have a deep understanding and experience in the assessment and management of risks, advanced analytical skills with a strong focus on Underwriting Quality and managing profitable portfolios
• Act as a role model in the strategic development and management of client and broker relationships
• Open minded and proactive to foresee the development of risk, tool and market assessments. Strong in commanding underwriting tools and IT applications
• Foster an open, collaborative spirit, seek for stakeholders’ inputs and buy-in
• A university degree (preferably quantitative studies, law or economics)
• 15+ years of experience in reinsurance underwriting
• A Casualty background and/or experience in the allocated markets is a plus
• Willingness to travel combined with fluent German and proficient command of English
