Our Corporate Underwriting Department is looking for a Senior Analyst for our UW portfolio, who will actively support the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) in deriving business- and risk-related insights on the Company’s UW book. The profile will actively cooperate with several internal stakeholders (incl. Business Units, Risk Management, Controlling and Reserving, Global Data & Technology, Corporate Development) in daily activities and in strategic initiatives.

Your tasks

  • UW portfolio management; assess VIG Re UW portfolio static and development, regarding profitability (expected and realised), composition, critical accumulating exposures and any other relevant risk- and exposure-based perspective. Design a holistic framework to shape and maintain a target UW portfolio for VIG Re; identify the means for an effective, ongoing steering and for a timely identification of areas requiring focus/analysis.
  • Business-oriented portfolio insights: leveraging internal and external data, identify the underlying drivers of the portfolio’s performance. Embrace a forward-looking view to provide a quantitative foundation to emerging risks and trends. Generate actionable insights, which enable Senior Leaders to define strategic priorities/business planning and Underwriters to perform effectively their risk assessment and decision making.
  • Data management and technology: act as Data Steward for the entire company’s UW domain, overseeing data accuracy and integrity across systems, and actively supporting the CUO in the role of UW Data Owner. Implement and maintain state-of-the-art tech solutions for UW portfolio analytics. Drive process improvements and leverage AI-based capabilities to continuously enhance efficiency and effectiveness of portfolio management activities.
  • Positioning of key messages: communicate with impact and clarity to relevant internal stakeholders. Adopt audience-adequate style and use professional and innovative means (e.g. visuals, graphs, maps etc) to consolidate the analytical takeaways and to position actionable recommendations.

Our expectations

  • University degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent
  • Fluent command of English language, an additional major European language is a plus
  • Minimum 7 years of professional track record in data analytics, portfolio strategy/steering or reporting/controlling in the insurance and/or reinsurance industry
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Abreast of AI developments.
  • High attention to details and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint knowledge
  • Contribute to a positive team spirit, motivated to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
